Digital pathology software should adapt to the way your lab works — not the other way around. With the release of PathcoreFlow 4.2, we’ve introduced updates designed to make pathology data management, collaboration, and image analysis faster, simpler, and more flexible.
From smarter data handling to high-speed file transfers, PathcoreFlow 4.2 gives pathology teams more control and better performance across the entire workflow.
A trash can you’ll actually appreciate
Deleting slides and studies doesn’t have to be permanent — or messy. PathcoreFlow 4.2 introduces a user-managed trash can that gives you control over file cleanup and storage recovery:
- Recover storage from recently deleted files
- Restore recently deleted slides or studies when needed
- Fewer support requests for managing storage and deleted files
- Performance gains for deletion of large folder hierarchies
It’s like “taking out the trash” — but on your terms. More control, less clutter, and smoother digital pathology workflows.
Prior to this release, the trash can was a hidden feature that could only be accessed via a support request. This limitation prevented storage recovery for deleted files until after 30 days. Going forward, users will have the ability to access the Trash Can and directly manage deleted files and storage utilization.
Inline metadata editing for fast and accurate workflows
Accurate metadata is the backbone of pathology research and toxicologic studies, but updating it shouldn’t slow you down. With Flow 4.2, you can now edit metadata inline, eliminating unnecessary steps and clicks.
- Update study details with fewer clicks
- Reduce errors with fewer distractions in your workflow
- Free up more time for scientific analysis
Less clicking. Better data. More science.
Universal LIS Connector
PathcoreFlow 4.2 introduces the Universal LIS Connector, a flexible, low-code framework that makes integrations with 3rd party LIS faster and more cost-effective. Ingesting metadata from a laboratory information systems shouldn’t require lengthy and costly development work.
- Rapidly integrate any laboratory information system (LIS)
- User configurable design allows changes without code
- Seamless integration with search and auditing tools
- Direct user control over metadata synchronization (retrieval and updates)
- A compliant integration framework designed for regulated workflows
- A secure framework built with modern IT best practices for integrations
- Eliminate costly and bespoke and customer-managed integrations
- Eliminate vendor lock-in with a truly universal and vendor neutral design
With the Universal LIS Connector, labs can ensure consistent data flow across their organization and scale digital pathology infrastructure without bottlenecks.

Instem Provantis integration
With the launch of the Universal LIS Connector, we are also launching our Provantis integration. This integration allows pathology laboratories using Instem’s pre-clinical study management platform to integrate their pathology modules with PathcoreFlow, for seamless toxicologic pathology workflows.
- Customize the Proviantis fields synchronized with PathcoreFlow
- Control how and when the integration is activated
- See the status of the integration (last sync, data source, etc).
- Reliable out-of-the box functionality with your LIS
PathcoreFlow features you already rely on
Interactive image histograms
Interactive image histograms, giving spatial biology researchers real-time control over multiplex immunofluorescence (IF) images. Easily adjust intensity ranges, contrast and gamma by channel, to fine-tuning how data is displayed for deeper insight. This feature not only enhances visualization but also helps teams standardize how complex images are viewed, ensuring consistency across studies and collaborators.
Save and share render settings
Consistency is critical when collaborating across research teams. PathcoreFlow allows you to save and share render settings, so your team views images the same way, every time.
- Standardize visualization across users and studies
- Improve collaboration with consistent image display
- Eliminate confusion caused by differing local settings
Fast, unrestricted downloads for digital pathology workflows
Exporting pathology data shouldn’t slow your research down. PathcoreFlow delivers unrestricted, ultra-fast downloads that make it easy to move large volumes of data without interruption. Teams can download unlimited files and folders at once, including metadata and annotations, with the ability to pause and resume transfers as needed. This resiliency ensures that data sharing and analysis stay on schedule, no matter the size of the project.
Hierarchical storage management (HSM)
Managing pathology data at scale requires both efficiency and cost control. With PathcoreFlow, hierarchical storage management (HSM) automatically tiers data between active and archival storage, reducing expenses by up to 73%. This fully managed, geo-redundant system gives labs peace of mind while keeping frequently accessed studies readily available. Smarter storage means your team can scale affordably, without sacrificing performance or security.

PathcoreFlow 4.2: Designed workflows that work for you not against you
Individually, these may feel like small features. Together, they add up to a more intuitive digital pathology platform — one that lets you focus on results instead of routine maintenance tasks and workarounds.
